No, absolutely not. We regularly see clients who come to us as they want to stay pain free and keep their body feeling the best it can. We also help aid performance in athletes and find treatment and improve power, strength and flexibility and get those extra gains.

Your Initial consultation will involve a case history. This is where the therapists asks about the issues you are having and goes through medical history to gain a thorough understanding of your problems. Following this an examination will take place which may involve observation, touch of the joints and muscles and seeing and feeling how areas are moving. From here a diagnosis will be reached and further treatment discussed.

The techniques used will depend on the diagnosis, severity of the problem, the state of the muscle and connective tissue stretching and massage, joint articulations and traction. Manipulation or high velocity thrust techniques which sometimes produce a ‘click’ are used to improve the movement at a joint that is restricted. The Osteopath may also include gentle techniques such as cranial osteopathy particularly when treating children or elderly patients.
